Trust at the Vancouver House on March 22nd. The presentation was made by Terry Whyte, President of B.C. Trust. Lionel was well known around B.C. for his work in setting up the B.C. Trust in 2001 and the development of the Kelowna Abbeyfield House in 1988. He was President of the B.C. Trust&nbsp; for many year [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div  class="paragraph editable-text" style=" text-align: left; ">Lionel Wace who now resides in the Vancouver Abbeyfield House, was the guest of honor at a tea and presentation by the B.C. Trust at the Vancouver House on March 22nd. The presentation was made by Terry Whyte, President of B.C. Trust. Lionel was well known around B.C. for his work in setting up the B.C. Trust in 2001 and the development of the Kelowna Abbeyfield House in 1988. He was President of the B.C. Trust&nbsp; for many years and was responsible for setting up the Reflections Contest for the benefit of any B.C. Societies who wished to participate and was&nbsp; also keenly interested in making funds available to B.C. Societies for travel to meetings of the Chapter and for educational programs for Abbeyfield staff.&nbsp; Regrettably the Kelowna House was closed after some years and was sold but the funds were put to good use through the B.C. Trust and a community Trust in Kelowna where Lionel had worked and lived for many years. Terry gave an excellent presentation and noted an e-email contribution from Bob McMullan, the head of National Abbeyfield for many of those same years. Terry then presented Lionel with a Mantel Clock to be placed in the Vancouver Abbeyfield House where Lionel could be reminded of the many lives he influenced over a "long period of time". Lionel's two sons were present for the occasion as were Camil Dufort, Chris Pederson and Gwen Fletcher, Board members of the B.C. Trust. Maureen Douglas, Chair of the Vancouver House Board, hosted the event and&nbsp; made the arrangements at the House including the lovely tea and goodies prepared by her Board members and staff. Lionel enjoyed the afternoon and many friends and associates were present to acknowledge and honor him.
