Southwark 'Blue Plaque' Award for Richard Carr-Gomm
At a Ceremony in Southwark on 1st April, a 'Blue Plaque' was unveiled in honour of Abbeyfield founder Richard Carr-Gomm at 36, Gomm Road, currently a 'Carr-Gomm' residence, and not far from the site of the first Abbeyfield house which was set up at 50, Eugenia Road. The Plaque records his work as founder of both the Abbeyfield and Carr-Gomm societies in 1955 and 1965 respectively. It reads 'Richard Carr-Gomm 1922 Social Reformer. Founder of the Abbeyfield and Carr-Gomm Societies. Lived and worked here. Voted by the People.'
