Susan Carr-Gomm Obituary
Abbeyfield International is saddened to announce the death of Susan Carr-Gomm, wife of Abbeyfield’s founder, Richard Carr-Gomm. Susan died after a very short illness at the end of last month.
Married in October, 1957, Richard describes Susan in his 2004 autobiography, ‘All Things Considered’ as follows:
Brown haired tall and attractive, Susan was a natural with all people and everyone felt at ease with her. She had an intuition and composure which drew friends to her and acted as a balm in all our community crises. In fact, I think she worried about things as much as the rest of us but she was better at not showing it; we all used to turn to her with our problems.
All our thoughts are with Richard and his children, Anna, Elizabeth, Harriet, Adam and David, and their families at this difficult time.
