Very successful Westwold fundraiser
Abbeyfield Westwold , BC, (population 369) has just had a very successful fundraiser. On April 4 the Barkerville Theatre Royal staged two performances in our community hall - a matinee attended by all elementary school children in Westwold and neighbouring Falkland, and particularly targeting seniors, and a dinner theatre in the evening. The matinee (rush seats only) was well attended, and the dinner theatre sold out (180 seats). The evening theatre was a 60/40 split with the theatre troupe, while the dinner was 100% Westwold. We had great community support with all the work involved and had generous donations of time, goods, and money. This was a great fundraiser for which we have had nothing but positive feedback - and it helped raise the Abbeyfield profile in our area. Our large banner was displayed prominently in the hall. (You will see it in the attached pictures.) We are also holding a raffle of a very beautiful quilt and a limited edition of an award winning book by a local author. This to be drawn on May 3. Our other project is a community yard sale also to be on May 3. You can see we are keeping busy! Summer will likely be quieter as most of us are involved in agriculture in some way.
