High River grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting Dec 5/2008
On December 5, 2008, guests were welcomed by Abbeyfield House Society of High River President, Glenna Irvine. About 90 community members and dignitaries, including High River Mayor, Les Rempel, MLA George Groeneveld, MD of Foothills Reeve, Roy McLean, and Okotoks Mayor, Bill McAlpine, were on hand for the grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting at Abbeyfield House in High River. Guests toured the house and socialized with the residents and Abbeyfield Board Members.
The Abbeyfield Society of High River was formed in 1997 and has continued toward its goal of providing a living choice for seniors in the High River area. The Grand Opening marked the culmination of years of hard work and fundraising put in by Abbeyfield Board Members and loyal supporters. Community and members alike are proud of this wonderful accomplishment.
